Shear-induced unidirectional deposition of bacterial cellulose microfibrils using rising bubble stream cultivation

چکیده

In crystalline cellulose I, all glucan chains are ordered from reducing ends to non-reducing ends. Thus, the polarity of individual is added forming a large dipole within crystal. If one can engineer unidirectional alignment (parallel packing) crystals, then it might be possible utilize material properties originating polar structures. However, most post-synthesis manipulation methods reported so far only achieve uniaxial with bi-directionality (antiparallel packing). Here, we report method induce parallel packing bacterial microfibrils by applying shear stress during synthesis and deposition through rising bubble stream in culture medium. Driving force for explained mathematical estimation stress. Evidences Iα domains were obtained using nonlinear optical spectroscopy techniques.

Alteration of oriented deposition of cellulose microfibrils by mutation of a katanin-like microtubule-severing protein.

It has long been hypothesized that cortical microtubules (MTs) control the orientation of cellulose microfibril deposition, but no mutants with alterations of MT orientation have been shown to affect this process. We have shown previously that in Arabidopsis, the fra2 mutation causes aberrant cortical MT orientation and reduced cell elongation, and the gene responsible for the fra2 mutation enc...

A kinesin-like protein is essential for oriented deposition of cellulose microfibrils and cell wall strength.

Cortical microtubules have long been hypothesized to regulate the oriented deposition of cellulose microfibrils. However, the molecular mechanisms of how microtubules direct the orientation of cellulose microfibril deposition are not known. We have used fibers in the inflorescence stems of Arabidopsis to study secondary wall deposition and cell wall strength and found a fragile fiber (fra1) mut...

Hydrogel Fiber Cultivation Method for Forming Bacterial Cellulose Microspheres

Forming microspheres or microbeads from nanofibrous materials has recently attracted research interest for their applications in various fields, because these structures greatly impact cellular behaviors and functions. However, conventional methods of preparing microspheres or microbeads have limitations, such as limited variety of material. Here, we propose a new fabrication process for formin...

Nanostructure of cellulose microfibrils in spruce wood.

The structure of cellulose microfibrils in wood is not known in detail, despite the abundance of cellulose in woody biomass and its importance for biology, energy, and engineering. The structure of the microfibrils of spruce wood cellulose was investigated using a range of spectroscopic methods coupled to small-angle neutron and wide-angle X-ray scattering. The scattering data were consistent w...
